Diving Filitheyo in the Maldives

Diving Holidays at Filitheyo

The unspoilt Faafu atoll is a divers paradise with beautiful diving on splendid reefs. Werner Lau Diving Centre offers you international standard equipment, instructors and a complete range of PADI diving courses.

The abundance of marine life and variety of dive sites available from the shore around the Island of Filitheyo and by boat in the Faafu Atoll make Filitheyo an excellent choice for a diving holiday.

Filitheyo Dive Highlights

The Filitheyo House Reef
Filitheyo is well known for its excellent house reef offering some of the best house reef snorkelling and diving in the Maldives. On the north side it falls to more than 90m. Gentle currents sweep down either side of the Islands which attract many pelagic species towards the reef providing spectacular diving, right on your doorstep. Around Filitheyo are 7 clearly marked entry and exit points, all served with a tank shuttle service which makes for easy diving. The house reef can be dived by experienced, qualified divers day or night.

Filitheyo Thila
Filitheyo Thila was one of the first dive sites discovered by Werner Lau diving centre, around Filitheyo, and is definitely still one of the best.
It is a "U"-shaped reef, with the top ranging from 10m - 20m. This sand valley is a popular spot for sting rays and large schools of fish. Huge swarms of fusiliers, so large that they block your vision, intermingled with barracudas, blue fin jacks, tunas, mackerel and eagle-rays are often spotted on Filitheo Thila. There are also sighting of napoleons, white-tipped sharks and on occasions grey-reef sharks. Numerous caves, most more than 20 metres deep can also be found at varying depths around the reef.
Filitheyo Thila is a popular dive site for good reason but is only for the experienced diver when the current is strong.

Filitheyo Outside
Absolutely unbelievable! Fish, fish and more fish, both large and small!
This picturesque dive site is home to a plethora of marine life, such as batfish, napoleon wrasse, oriental sweetlips, snapper, almost always grey-reef sharks and many others. You are always in for a surprise here!
